Driftless | Part 6, Scenes from the Sylvan Cabin

Captured here are a few scenes of our time in Wisconsin's Driftless Region.

S'mores night! I love s'mores night! Even if I can't eat them like I used to.

Nate's drone was a new addition to this year's SurnameFest. As a surveyor, Nate is intrigued by the visual mapping capability of drones and he purchased one to learn more about them. Perhaps we'll have another FAA certificate-holder in the family soon!

The Bear exerted her will over the drone by utilizing her auxiliary antenna.

During an excursion to La Crosse for miniature golf, Izzy, The Bear, and Lisa played a game of Giant Jenga.

Eventually, someone's luck always runs out. This time around, it was The Bear's.

Jigsaw puzzles are always a critical part of SurnameFest. Even the delamination debacle of Boba Fett's visit to Kamino (someone spilled water on a puzzle featuring the bounty hunter) can't stand in this group's way!

We explored Pier Park, which features a natural rock bridge.

Erosion can be cool.

It was a troll reunion! Not only is that troll back, but so is the original troll. This was a truly momentous occasion.

"Do you know why we keep doing these silly troll pictures?"

Intrepid spelunkers.

Breaking on through to the other side.

Someone forgot to tell Stephen that he was not posing for a band photo.

The SurnameFest group photo is a tradition dating all the way back to the first SurnameFest in 2013. This time, executed by drone. Aren't we a nice looking group? Just wait...

Similarly, the tradition of the goofy group picture traces its lineage back to that establishing SurnameFest of 2013, originally as a contrivance to gain The Bear's participation. Now, just because it's fun.

The only difference with this year is that we ended up with a lot more goofy group photos than serious ones. But that's OK. We like it that way. Well...maybe I should avoid making claims for the whole group. I like it that way.

And, finally, the Group Photo MVP Award goes to Lisa and Terry for this gem. By the time we were done taking these pictures, The Bear's arms were really sore.

And that's a wrap for SurnameFest 2022!
